
Turkish Pide
Turkish pide is a delicious boat-shaped stuffed flatbread. It's perfect as a main course or a savoury snack.
Ingredients for the dough:
- 500 g wheat flour
- 10 g dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 300 ml lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Ingredients for the filling:
- 200 g minced meat (beef, lamb, or chicken)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or coriander for garnish
Method:
Prepare the dough:
- Mix the yeast and sugar into the lukewarm water and let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until soft and elastic. Add more flour or water if needed.
- Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the filling:
- Heat a little olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion until soft.
- Add the
