Strawberry Sauce
This simple strawberry sauce is made from fresh strawberries, a small amount of sugar and lemon juice. The sauce stays fresh in flavour and can be left chunky, blended smooth or passed through a sieve.

Ingredients
- 500 grams strawberries
- 70 grams caster sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Preparation
- Wash the strawberries
Wash the strawberries briefly and drain them well. - Prepare the strawberries
Remove the hulls and cut the strawberries in half. Large strawberries can be cut into quarters.
Method
- Cook the strawberries
Put the strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice in a pan. Bring to the boil over a medium heat. - Simmer the sauce
Turn the heat down as soon as the mixture starts to boil. Let the strawberries simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes, until they are soft and the sauce has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally. - Leave the sauce chunky
Leave the sauce chunky if you want to keep pieces of strawberry. - Make the sauce smooth
For a smooth sauce, you can blend the strawberry sauce with a hand blender or blender. For an extra fine sauce, you can rub the blended sauce through a sieve. - Leave the sauce to cool
Bear in mind that the sauce will thicken a little more as it cools. - Use the sauce
Use the strawberry sauce warm or cold with yoghurt, ice cream, pancakes, pudding or cakes. - Store the sauce
Leave the sauce to cool completely and store it covered in the fridge.
