Cacık

Cacık is a delicious, refreshing dish that’s perfect for warm summer days. This Turkish yoghurt dip is ideal as a side dish for kebabs or simply as a refreshing dip with bread.

Serves: 4
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes
Total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients (for 4 servings)

  • 500 g thick yoghurt
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 5 g dried mint
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

Preparation

  1. Peel and grate the cucumber.
  2. Squeeze out the excess moisture or let it drain in a sieve.
  3. Finely chop the garlic.

Instructions

  1. Place the yoghurt in a bowl and add the garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. Mix well.
  2. Add the grated cucumber and dried mint, stirring until well combined.
  3. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Chill the cacık in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fresh mint leaves before serving.
