
Candied Sweet Potatoes
A tasty side dish — the combination of cinnamon, ginger and maple syrup is simply irresistible.

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 500 g sweet potatoes
- 100 ml maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1–2 cm fresh ginger
- 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 120 g butter
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Salt
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Peel the sweet potatoes and slice them into rounds about 1 cm thick.
- Spread the slices in a shallow ovenproof dish.
- Grate the ginger and lemon zest. You won’t need the rest of the lemon.
- In a bowl, mix the butter with the lemon and ginger zest, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Spread the butter mixture over the potatoes, drizzle with maple syrup and season with a little salt and a pinch of nutmeg.
- Cover the dish with aluminium foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes until tender and golden.
