Keftedes

Keftedes, or Greek meatballs, are a perfect meze dish and taste delicious with a bit of tzatziki.

Serves: 4
Preparation: 10 min
Chilling: 60 min
Cooking: 10 min

Ingredients:

  • 500 g mixed minced meat (pork and beef)
  • 1 red onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • Olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel and mince the garlic.
  2. Wash and finely chop the parsley and mint.
  3. Combine all ingredients except the olive oil in a large bowl and mix well by hand.
  4. Form the meat mixture into balls of about 4 cm in diameter. Chill in the fridge for 60 minutes.
  5. Remove from the fridge and roll the meatballs in flour. Shake off the excess.
  6. Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the meatballs for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
