White BBQ sauce
This creamy and spicy barbecue sauce from the southern US is a surprising alternative to the classic red version. Perfect with chicken, turkey, pulled pork or grilled vegetables.

Ingredients
- 200 g mayonnaise
- 60 ml apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon horseradish
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Pinch of cayenne pepper or chilli flakes
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
- Measure out all the ingredients.
- Squeeze the lemon juice and, if desired, grate fresh horseradish.
- Have a clean, sealable jar or bottle ready to store the sauce.
Method
- Put the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in a mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
- Add the honey, Dijon mustard and horseradish and mix well.
- Season with garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking.
- Let the sauce rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes so the flavours can develop.
- Serve cold as a dipping sauce, or use as a marinade or glaze for grilled meat or vegetables.
