Croquetas de jamón

Croquetas de Jamón

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Even better with a cold beer or a glass of wine.

Chilling time: 2.5 hours
Cooking time: 10 min

Ingredients:

For the croquettes:

  • 250 g diced ham
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 50 g flour
  • Nutmeg
  • Black pepper
  • 1 onion
  • Dash of sunflower oil

For breading:

  • 3 eggs
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Flour

Preparation:

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion.
  2. Beat the eggs and place in a bowl.
  3. Prepare separate bowls with flour and breadcrumbs.

Method:

  1. Heat a dash of sunflower oil in a pan and sauté the onion until it begins to colour.
  2. Add the flour and cook while stirring for 4 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until a smooth mixture forms.
  4. Add the diced ham and season with nutmeg and black pepper.
  5. Pour the mixture into a dish and chill in the fridge for 2 hours.
  6. Once firm, shape the croquettes using spoons or your hands.
  7. Coat first in flour, then in egg, and finally in breadcrumbs.
  8. Let the croquettes chill for 30 more minutes before frying.
  9. Deep fry in a fryer or pan with hot oil at 180°C until golden brown.
