Thousand Island Dressing

This creamy dressing with a slightly sweet note comes from the Thousand Islands region on the border between Canada and the USA. Perfect for salads, burgers, or as a dipping sauce.

Total time: 10 minutes + 30 minutes resting time

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 150 ml mayonnaise (preferably homemade or high-quality)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup (without artificial sweeteners)
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey or fine cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickles
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion or shallot
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped parsley (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Preparation

  • Finely chop the pickles.
  • Finely chop the onion or shallot.
  • Finely chop the parsley, if using.

Instructions

  1. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar or lemon juice, mustard, and honey in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Add the pickles, onion, and optionally parsley, and stir well.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Let the dressing rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
