
Cherry jam with vanilla
Cherry jam is delicious on toast, in yogurt, or with cheese. Easy to make, especially when cherries are in season.

Ingredients
- 1 kilo cherries
- 1 lemon
- 1000 grams gelling sugar
- 1 vanilla pod

- Cherry pitter (optional)
Method
- Wash the cherries thoroughly.
- Pit the cherries using a cherry pitter or a stick.
- Place the cherries and gelling sugar in a bowl and let sit for 6 hours.
- Sterilise the jam jars and let them dry well.
- Squeeze the lemon juice and split the vanilla pod.
- Put the lemon juice, vanilla pod, and cherries in a pan. Bring to a boil while stirring.
- Boil the jam vigorously for 4 minutes.
- Divide the hot jam into the clean jars, seal tightly, turn them upside down for 10 minutes, then let cool.
