
Spicy turkey skewer with Harissa & cumin
These spicy turkey skewers are a flavourful combination of North African harissa, roasted spices and a hint of honey. They are delicious grilled and pair perfectly with refreshing side dishes like raita or couscous.

Ingredients (serves 4)
- 500 g turkey breast
- 2 tbsp harissa
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 10 to 15 white peppercorns
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp honey
- Pinch of salt
Preparation
- Cut turkey breast into equal-sized cubes.
- Grind cumin seeds and peppercorns in a mortar and pestle.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes.
Cooking
- In a bowl, mix the harissa, olive oil, ground cumin and pepper, smoked paprika, honey, and salt into a marinade.
- Add the turkey cubes and mix well to coat them fully in the marinade.
- Cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Thread the turkey onto the skewers.
- Grill over medium heat (barbecue or grill pan) for about 10–12 minutes, turning regularly, until the turkey is cooked through and caramelised.
