White rice

White rice is rice from which the outer layers of the grain have been removed. This gives the rice a mild flavour, light colour and soft texture. It is one of the most widely used types of rice in the world and suits both simple everyday meals and spiced dishes from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America.

In the kitchen, white rice is especially valued as a neutral base. It absorbs sauces well, combines easily with vegetables, meat, fish and pulses, and is suitable for curries, stir-fries, stews, rice salads and simple side dishes.
